This quick guide helps you keep your BUYNETIC home décor items—glass, steel, and rattan—looking their best. Follow these straightforward tips for cleaning, maintenance, and storage.

1. Glass Items

Examples: Candlesticks, vases, decorative bowls

Daily Cleaning

Dust Removal: Wipe gently with a dry microfiber or soft cotton cloth.
Fingerprints & Light Stains: Dampen a cloth with warm water plus a drop of mild dish soap (or a 1:1 mix of white vinegar and water). Wipe the glass, then immediately dry with a clean, lint-free cloth to avoid water spots.

Quick Tips & Precautions

Avoid Temperature Shock: Do not pour very hot or icy liquids directly into glass. Let hot water cool slightly before use.
Handle with Care: Place glass items on a stable, level surface, away from edges or high-traffic areas to prevent accidental knocks or falls.
No Abrasives: Never use steel wool, harsh scrubbers, or strong acidic/alkaline cleaners—these will scratch or etch the glass.

Storage

Separate Layers: When storing multiple glass pieces, wrap each in soft cloth or bubble wrap. Leave a 1–2 cm gap between items.
Keep It Dry: Wipe items completely dry before storing. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight to prevent fading of any painted or tinted designs.

2. Steel Items

Examples: Stainless-steel candlesticks, metal frames, wall décor

Cleaning & Rust Prevention

Dust & Light Cleaning: Wipe with a dry microfiber or soft cloth. For fingerprints or smudges, use a damp cloth with warm water and mild dish soap, then dry immediately.
Removing Rust Spots: Make a paste of baking soda + a little water, gently rub on the rust spot, rinse with clean water, and dry thoroughly. For stubborn rust, use a small amount of stainless-steel cleaner.
Protective Finish: If your item is exposed to humidity or water (e.g., bathroom décor), wipe dry after each use and apply a light coat of food-grade mineral oil or a stainless-steel polish every 3–6 months to create a moisture barrier.

Quick Tips & Precautions

Avoid Harsh Tools & Chemicals: Don’t use steel wool, metal brushes, or acidic/alkaline cleaners, which can scratch and strip the protective finish.
Keep Away from Moisture: Do not leave steel items sitting in water or exposed to damp environments. If they get wet, dry right away to prevent corrosion.

Storage

Short-Term: After cleaning, make sure the surface is bone-dry before putting away. Store in a dry, ventilated space.
Long-Term: Coat the surface lightly with mineral oil or a rust-preventive spray, then wrap in a soft cloth or place in a plastic bag with a small desiccant packet (silica gel). Keep in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight or heat.

3. Rattan (Cane) Items

Examples: Rattan wall hangings, woven baskets, rattan vase covers

Daily Cleaning

Dust & Light Debris: Use a dry, soft-bristled brush or a dry cloth. Brush gently along the weave to remove loose dust.
Spot Cleaning: If there’s a small stain, dampen a cloth with warm water (add a drop of mild dish soap if needed). Wipe only the soiled area, then immediately blot with a dry cloth to remove moisture.

Moisture & Mold Prevention

Avoid Constant Humidity: Rattan can mildew if it stays damp. Keep it out of bathrooms or damp corners. If indoor humidity is high, use a dehumidifier or ensure good air circulation.
Treat Small Mold Spots: Mix 1 part white vinegar to 5 parts water, lightly apply to the moldy area, let sit 5–10 minutes, then wipe with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Place the item in a well-ventilated spot until fully dry.

Preventing Cracks & Breaks

Avoid Direct Sun & Heat: Do not leave rattan in strong sunlight or next to radiators/heaters—dry heat makes it brittle.
Maintain Slight Humidity: In very dry seasons (e.g., winter heating), lightly mist with water from a spray bottle (just a fine mist) or rub a small amount of food-grade mineral oil or rattan-specific oil to keep fibers supple. Wipe off any excess oil.

Storage

Short-Term: Keep rattan décor in a well-ventilated, dry space. If stacking is necessary, place soft padding (e.g., cloth or bubble wrap) between items to prevent scuffing or pressure marks.
Long-Term: Clean and fully dry the piece before storing. Place inside a breathable cloth bag or cardboard box with a silica-gel packet to absorb moisture. Check every 2–3 months for signs of dust, mold, or dryness.

4. General Tips

Two-Person Handling: For larger or heavier items, always ask someone to help hold and move them to prevent drops or strain.
Immediate Action: At the first sign of a crack, rust spot, mold, or other issue, address it right away—small repairs are easier than fixing major damage later.
Regular Checkups: Every 1–2 months, glance at each item for dust, light stains, or early signs of wear so you can clean or protect before it worsens.
Proper Tools Only: Always use soft cloths, mild detergents, and gentle brushes. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive tools out of reach.
